The tepuy Roraima is the highest, the most known and visited of the Tepuyes of the Gran Sabana with 2800 mts of altitude (9000 feet). On its summit is the milestone border called triple point, for being the place where converge the borders of Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana. This milestone was placed in 1931 by an international commission.

Roraima is the most famous of the eastern tepuyes of Canaima National Park and an architectural beauty of nature. The correct name is «Roroima» and it is estimated that these formations are older than about 2000 million years. The highest point is the rock formation called the Maverick car, (to have the form of that brand of vehicle).

Great importance is endemic plant species that are, on the other hand, very few and reason for many important studies.

Its walls are extremely vertical, and in its top we found lakes such as the «Gladys» and impressive rock formations, product of the erosion through the centuries. It would be very extensive cover here all the beauties and particular characteristics of the mount Roraima or Tepuy (this is what they call the Pemóns to these mountains flat). Many scientists agree that at this point was the separation of the continents.

Only some tepuyes, among which is the Roraima and Auyantepuy, can be promoted to foot, without climbing equipment, thanks to a «ramp» that is affixed to the vertical wall. Of course, it is possible to arrive by helicopter to the top, but those who choose that option, fail to appreciate the vegetation of the ascent, abundant in orchids and ferns, or some landscapes.

Hotels
The Roraima offers several excellent points for camping called the «Hotels». Are places under the rock that offer a good shelter against the rain, always frequent, wind and cold. Night temperatures are below 12 degrees celsius and, at certain times, may even go below zero.

The Abyss
From the «Abyss» you can see the northern part of the tepuy, also called «The Bow». To be able to come up to the edge, it is recommended that you do so lying face down and that a person will grasp the feet.

The reports of expeditions of the Victorian era to this mountain inspired Sir Arthur Conan Doyle to write in 1912 its classic adventure novel «The lost world».
