Almost 300 years ago, the inhabitants of the areas around Lake Onega in Russia, decided they needed two new churches (the old had been burned in a fire). It was decided that the Kizhi island in the middle of the lake, would be ideal as a new place of worship. Thus began the construction of which have become two of the oldest churches in the world made entirely of wood. Two masterpieces built in one block.
