The Eiffel Tower in Paris

The Eiffel Tower is an iron construction 300 meters high that was created for the Paris Exposition of 1889. Currently constitutes the most representative symbol of Paris and is the most visited monument in the world with more than 7 million visitors a year.

Its design was created by Gustave Eiffel. The Eiffel Tower construction lasted just over two years and it worked 250 workers.

Initially the tower was controversial: the hottest artists considered it monstrous and, given its low profitability at the end of the exhibition, demolish it raised the possibility on different occasions.

In the early twentieth century, with the advent of the World Wars, authorities found their usefulness as an antenna for broadcasting messages and caught her allies that helped decisively.

The Eiffel Tower has three levels. From the two upper levels have beautiful views and you can see many of the main tourist attractions and sights of Paris, such as the Arc de Triomphe, the Louvre, the Musée d’Orsay, Notre Dame Cathedral, the Basilica of Sacre -Coeur, Trocadero and Champ de Mars, among other important points of the city.

At dusk, the Eiffel Tower is lit entirely with more than 20,000 lights and 300 projectors leading to a wonderful show. The first 10 minutes of every hour after sunset, the tower is filled with twinkling lights and creates a different atmosphere in the city.

You can access both elevator tower and down the stairs, but before you decide on the latter option, you must know that it is 1,665 steps.

Using stairs is accessible only to the first two floors of the tower. Although the price of the stairs is somewhat lower, unless it is a challenge the difference is not worth it.

The best times to climb the tower are the first thing in the morning, when there were no long lines formed either in the evening to enjoy the city of lights in all their glory.
